Design and Society

Graphic Design, Web Design
2016

As a group of international designers from different design disciplines (spatial, product & graphic), we came together to investigate and solve a social sustainability problem. Through collaboration, we worked on developing a solution to support families transitioning away from the increased use of digital technologies that are used to entertain and educate pre-school aged children. As a group, we explored why this is a social issue and how it impacts on social situations and development, particularly in children of a pre-school age and on relationships within the family. We feel that it is important to educate and inform parents of the dangers that providing children with too much technology, too early can have. This document demonstrates our key workings and design thinking methods used to solve this social problem. It also shows our human centred design solutions that were created as a result of our initiation, discovery, interpretation and ideation stages.
